Andromeda POS launches Chip and PIN solution

Andromeda, the UK’s leading Delivery EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) provider, has launched a fully integrated Chip and PIN solution for its Rameses EPOS system. The new system will provide cost-savings over rival offerings as well as extremely fast card transaction processing times.

The new Chip and PIN device has been developed in partnership with Thyron Systems, a specialist manufacturer of I/P based mobile and portable EFTPOS terminals, and payment services provider DataCash.

Unlike terminals supplied by acquiring banks the Andromeda solution is fully integrated into the EPOS system, thus reducing amount entry errors and providing local EPOS reconciliation of card and cash sales.

Card transactions are processed in under three seconds, and unlike traditional card payment terminals, all connectivity to the bank is provided over the existing broadband infrastructure. This means that multiple payment devices can be deployed on-site and provides cost savings by removing the need to have dedicated phone lines for each terminal.

Enterprise level reporting enables a head office to report on card transactions in real time, either by site or as a total. Furthermore, it is possible to drill down into each individual transaction.

Andromeda Chip and PIN is available for Counter Service and Table Service concepts and has been fully bank approved.

Ben Portsmouth, CEO of Andromeda, said: “Our investment in the development of this new Chip and PIN product means that we can offer a solution at a fraction of the cost of rival integrated product offerings. Furthermore, we can provide a much faster authorisation process which is extremely important to customers. We selected Thyron and DataCash as partners for their industry leading technologies.”
